Whether you are a prospective student or already enrolled at Western Michigan University, the catalog is a powerful tool to help you quickly locate undergraduate programs and courses. Not all courses listed in this catalog are offered every semester. It is important to visit your academic advisor on a regular basis to stay on track to graduate. The WMU Catalog is the official source of the University’s academic programs, courses and academic procedures. University Policies can be found online at wmich.edu/policies. The catalog should be used as a guide, in conjunction with your academic advisor, to plan a course of study and to meet requirements for graduation.

Western Michigan University (“University”) provides the information in this Catalog for informational purposes only; this information is generally intended for WMU students or prospective students (collectively, “Students”). This Catalog does not constitute a legal contract or obligation between University and any Student, person, or entity. The University shall not be bound by the information in this Catalog. The University reserves the right to modify or discontinue, in University’s sole discretion, the information in this Catalog, as well as degree requirements, course offerings, specific courses, programs, degrees, policies, and all other aspects of University operations at any time. When taking such actions, the University will attempt to notify those persons directly affected – e.g., students enrolled in the courses or programs being modified or discontinued. The University will notify all other persons of such changes by amending the online version of this Catalog or other relevant University webpages. Impacted Students should contact their University academic advisers, and/or relevant academic Department, College, or School to determine alternate ways for Students to complete their course work, program, degree, etc. This Catalog is typically updated once a year. The Catalog’s online version of is generally the most updated, however Students are responsible for verifying the University’s current requirements, policies, offerings of courses and/or programs.
Students are deemed to have accepted University’s policies, rules, requirements and regulations (collectively, “Requirements”) when they complete University’s registration process. A Student’s duty to abide by the University Requirements may also be acknowledged or reinforced through agreements the Student enters with University departments or offices. The Student’s continued enrollment, attendance, and/or registration for classes constitutes the Student’s ongoing acceptance of the University’s then-current Requirements.
The University reserves the right to deny registration, cancel enrollment, and/or revoke admission of any Student that fails to accept or comply with the Requirements. The University shall, in its sole discretion, make all decisions regarding Student dismissals, suspensions, withdrawals, denials of requests or applications, cancellations or revocations of admissions, impositions of holds on student records, and other administrative decisions. For example, the University may withdraw, revoke and/or cancel a Student’s admission upon acquiring information which disqualifies the Student after the University’s admission decision was made. The University also reserves the right to revoke, in its sole discretion, any University degree which a Student has obtained improperly, including but not limited to, as a result of misrepresentations, incomplete or false information, and/or in violation of University requirements. Before finalizing such a revocation, the University will give the Student an opportunity to be heard, in accordance with University requirements in effect at the time of the discovery of the alleged offense.
